Setting up rsync on a windows machine

MS SQL On Ubuntu 16.04

To set up Rsync on a windows PC, you’ll need to get a version of cwRsync – you can find both bersions (free and paid) here.

Edit rsync.conf

Once you have this installed you’ll need to edit rsync.conf to something similar to this:

The allowed IP addresses at the top of the files are that of the remote server (usually your webhost if you’re backing up websites)

This is set up to backup to the D:\backups\personal’ folder on the PC cwRsync is installed on.

Once, you’ve set up rsync.conf, you’ll need to use the bundled program to “activate” the folders for sharing – it’s as simple as pointing it at the folder and clicking on next.

After that – you’re done!
